Oil Can Scotty Loses Second Round

Reprinted, in part, from The Milwaukee Journal

.....Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi issued a temporary restraining order Friday, halting Gov. Scott Walker's law that would sharply curtail collective bargaining for public employees.

State officials said immediately they would appeal the judge's decision but GOP lawmakers declined to comment on whether they might also try the separate tactic of passing the bill through the Legislature again.

Sumi's order will prevent Secretary of State Doug La Follette from publishing the law - and allowing it to take effect - until she can rule on the merits of the case.  Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat, is seeking to block the law because he says a legislative committee violated the state's open meetings law in passing the measure, which Walker signed on Friday.

Sumi, who was appointed to the bench by Former GOP Gov. Tommy G. Thompson, said Ozanne was likely to succeed on the merits......

Well then.  I guess we were successful in sending a message to Oil Can Scotty and the rest of the Republican thugs that just because they are in power, they can't commit a crime and get away with it.  At least, that's what I hope the message conveys to them.  These people are desperate to take America back to the 1800's, and it doesn't seem like much of anything deters them, least of all the law.  Well, it's 2011 and we're determined to keep moving forward.  Stand strong.  Stand up for the constitution.  Stand against corruption in politics.  And most importantly, stand against Walker and the rest of the gangsters who would corporatize this country to death.
